Patient Advocates

Jamie Goldfarb:

Jamie Goldfarb was diagnosed with stage IV melanoma in January 2011, just 3 months after her son was born. After reviewing her options, Jamie decided that she needed to join a clinical trial and enrolled in TIL at the NCI. Her diagnosing physician promised her he would do everything within his power to buy her 6 more months with her newborn. Now, 14 years later, Jamie has been completely disease-free for the past 12 years because participation in a phase I trial saved her life. Jamie's passion for ensuring everyone with cancer understands their full range of treatment options, including clinical trials, fills her personal time as well as her professional time as a patient recruitment strategist with a focus on oncology programs. In her professional role, Jamie serves as a Director of Patient Recruitment Strategy for Trialbee, a global patient recruitment company. Outside of her professional role, Jamie serves as a patient advocate for the NCI, the Melanoma Research Foundation, and the Melanoma Research Alliance.  She also serves on the patient advisory boards for multiple pharmaceutical companies and regularly speaks at industry conference about the need for physician referrals, how to empower patients to be their own best health advocates, and how to understand and respond to information about clinical trials. Jamie also works one-on-one with people with cancer to help them navigate their treatment options. Jamie lives with her husband, Jeff, and their son, Kai, in Washington, D.C.
